The DB class 103 locomotives are heavy six-axle electric locomotives for fast passenger service. Together with the V200 diesel locomotive, it was one of the best-known locomotive series in Germany. These were the most powerful locomotives ever used in regular service in Germany. From 1997 it was replaced by the 101 series.
Our locomotive was put into service in 1971 and was based in Frankfurt until 1999. After a year in Hamburg- Eidelstedt, it returned to Frankfurt in 2000 and was retired in 2012. Between 1991 and 1993 the locomotive was painted in the colours of Lufthansa AG (RAL 9010/1028). Since 1994 it has had the number 103 101-2. It has been on display in our museum since 2001 as a loan from the DB Museum Nuremberg.
