On the evening of 06.03.2023, we were pleased to welcome a special group of visitors to the museum. They were the participants of the InCeight Casting C8, an interdisciplinary congress for high-performance cast components organized by the Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability and System Reliability LBF. The research institute is located in Kranichstein within sight of the Railway Museum.
The actual conference, which included technical presentations, panel discussions and workshops, was held at the darmstadtium. The museum had been booked for the evening event.
After a small standing reception with snacks in the engine shed, the visitors were divided into groups. For this purpose, historical cardboard tickets in Edmondson’s format had been distributed in advance in five different colors, which had been produced by our ticket printer especially for this purpose.
The groups were led by a guide to five stations one after the other, where there were lectures and/or demonstrations on railroad history, railroad technology and rolling stock by our experts. As this was an international conference, the explanations were given in German and English. The illumination of the exhibits and vehicles in the late evening created a special atmosphere.
At the end of the event around 9:30 p.m., people met again in the locomotive shed for informal exchanges and networking or for individual viewing of the vehicles. The vigorously fired, historic shed stove fought red-hot against the temperatures just above freezing and enjoyed great popularity.
We would like to thank the Fraunhofer Institute for the good cooperation and were very pleased with the satisfied guests. Besides the presentation of the museum, we also had the opportunity to delve into one or the other technical detail with the guests that evening.
Do you have a celebration coming up in the near future that you would like to celebrate in a special industrial culture ambience? The premises and vehicles of the Railway Museum can be booked for such events. For more information, please visit:
