On Thursday, 2 May 2024, it was “grand station” in Darmstadt-Kranichstein: representatives of the railway, the state, the city, the transport association and the service facility for the stations came to Darmstadt-Kranichstein for the inauguration of the newly built, barrier-free platform. With the construction of this platform, said Dr Vornhusen, Deutsche Bahn’s Group Representative for Hesse in his speech, the penultimate barrier-free access and platform in and around Darmstadt has now been created. Only the north station is now to be the last in the series to be fitted with lifts to provide disabled access from the newly built platform level to street level. Lord Mayor Hanno Benz emphasised the pleasing progress of the construction work to make public transport in and around Darmstadt even more attractive. And the board of the Museumsbahn e. V., who were also invited, were pleased with the signage for the railway museum that was installed as part of the new construction.
