Last Monday (24.06.2024), two 20-foot containers were delivered to the railway museum and (temporarily) set up by the freight forwarder with millimetre precision on the prepared space between the engine shed and the former engine driver’s social building. The old containers in very good condition could be purchased at a reasonable price from the company K-Log GmbH from Würzburg. Thank you very much for your support!
The containers are needed because spare parts for the railway vehicles currently stored in freight wagons have to be relocated. The freight wagons currently in use will leave the railway museum in the short to medium term, as the new construction of the ICE stabling and cleaning facility (ARA) will mean that less track length will be available to the railway world.
To compensate for the track-bound storage areas that are no longer available, DB Fernverkehr AG is constructing a new container storage area as part of the ARA construction work, where the newly procured containers will be finally set up after completion.
