Diesel locomotives

V 122

Under the designation 1200 D, the MaK company built a total of 14 four-axle diesel locomotives with rod drive from 1957. These were MaK’s most powerful locomotives with rod drive after the war. The machines are still considered extremely reliable and robust today, which is not least due to the simple technology.

Our locomotive was used from 1961 onwards by the Braunschweig-Schöningen railway under the designation V122. From 1971 it was in service with the Rinteln-Stadthagen Railway and was transferred to Württembergische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft in 1995. It came to our museum in 2004 via the Deutsche Museums-Eisenbahn (DME).
