Before and during the Second World War, the Reichsbahn developed 2 closed freight wagons in wartime design (type district “Bremen” and “Leipzig”).
The axles of the wagon of the “Bremen” type district were moved further to the end of the wagon with an almost unchanged layout of the wagon G10. This allowed the maximum speed to be increased from 65 km/h to 90 km/h. At the DB, the wagons were designated as Gms 35 or Gmhs 35.
As part of a conversion programme in 1967, the Gmls 207 was created from still usable wagons of this type. The wagon was not suitable for the transport of perishable goods and animals, but was well suited for palletised goods. Most of the wagons were taken out of service by 1985.
