In 1963/64, Waggonfabrik Uerdingen built a series of 300 Gl wagons for the DB, which were given the designation Glmms 64. These were of lightweight steel construction. The walls of the wagon are made of 2 mm and the end walls of 2.5 mm sheet steel. The wagon floor, however, is made of wooden planks. In 1964, the wagons were re-designated Gbs 256.
