After the introduction of 4th class on the Königlich-Württembergische-Staats-Eisenbahnen (K.W.St.E.), it initially downgraded 3rd class coaches. As the demand was not met, it procured two-axle 4th class coaches with 8m axle base until 1912, which were then given a grey colour scheme. These were adopted by the later Reichsbahn as Di wü 12. After the elimination of the 4th class in 1928, they were designated as Cid wü 12. They were still in use with the DB after the 2nd World War.
The interior was not changed after the elimination of the 4th class and is still preserved as such.
