The Modelspoorclub from Alkmaar, Darmstadt’s twin city in the Netherlands, is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year!

For many years, the modelling enthusiasts have visited the railway museum at least once a year for the Bahnwelttage, bringing with them a variety of interesting modular layouts with detailed, local scenery from the Netherlands, which they then proudly present to visitors. When the museum’s doors close in the evening, they like to meet up with their colleagues in the engine shed and discuss a wide variety of (railway) topics. Representatives of the Museumsbahn e. V. are also regular guests in Alkmaar and always receive a warm welcome.

We also look back fondly on the fantastic restoration of the model of Darmstadt’s main railway station from 1846 by the Alkmaar team in 2014. Thanks to their technical and creative expertise, they were able to breathe new life into the ageing facility.
