The long period of cold weather with night frost – of course mainly at weekends, i.e. during the museum railway worker’s usual working hours – considerably delayed the start of the bricklaying of the partition wall.
The sand-lime bricks to be used were ordered and delivered promptly. They were transported by lorry to the turntable. The last metres were covered by Kla wagon and two-way excavator. The excavator was used to unload the bricks on site in such a way that they only had to be moved a little by hand during the laying of the bricks (brick weight 20 kg!).
The reinforcement for the concrete floor has also already been delivered. The order had already been placed in 2021, so that we could still profit from relatively favourable steel prices. Once again, the transport over the last mile was carried out by Kla wagon and two-way excavator.
We would like to thank the following companies for their support:
Held Baustoffhandel, Weiterstadt (delivery of sand-lime bricks and mortar)
Hofmann-Rieg Stahlhandel, Darmstadt (delivery of the reinforcement)
