Klima snow ploughs can be used to clear snow on tracks up to a snow height of 1.50m. This type of snow plough is named after the Austrian designer R. Klima, who invented and patented it. In Germany, the Reichsbahn used Klima snow ploughs from 1929, after the Henschel company had acquired a corresponding licence. Decommissioned steam locomotive tenders or Bavarian electric locomotives were used to build these snow ploughs.

Our snow plough was built on the basis of a class 39 tender in 1960 and put into service with the DB. There it was given the vehicle number DB 30 80 973 5 039-8. It was initially stationed at the Goßlar depot and was transferred to the Braunschweig depot in 1979 and came to our museum in the 1990s.
