In his presentation on 5 June 2024 on the “Development of combined road-rail transport”, our member Jens Horvay gave the interested audience a very expert, informative and entertaining insight into the history, technology, challenges and significance of heavy goods transport. The numerous historical pictures enlivened the presentation. A beautiful slide show, which demonstrated a scene of a transformer being loaded from a carrier wagon onto a special heavy-duty road vehicle, also supported the visualisation of the topic presented.
To get visitors in the mood for the presentation, one of the Kaelble tractor units from the museum’s own heavy-duty group awaited them in front of the entrance to the museum.
The next lecture evening will take place on 3 July 2024. Michael Sailer will present “The locomotives of the Main-Neckar railway”. Admission is free. Start at 8 pm.
