Dit maakte het mogelijk om verder te werken aan de ketel. Het belangrijkste werk was nu de installatie van de vuurkist en het boren van de klinknagelgaten. Er moesten nieuwe schroefklinknagels worden gemaakt op plaatsen waar niet geklonken kon worden vanwege bouwgerelateerde beperkingen. Deze zijn net als schroeven aangebracht en dampdicht gebalsemd.
