Hiervoor wordt een plasmasnijder gebruikt (linksonder). Vervolgens moet de nieuwe buiswand aan de vuurkist worden aangepast. Deze firma laste al in de jaren zestig koperen vuurkisten voor stoomlocomotiefketels. Ook onze 89 339 werd daar aantoonbaar vervaardigd. Deze productietechniek werd echter jaren later verlaten, want na de Tweede Wereldoorlog werden vuurkasten meestal van staal gemaakt. Koperen vuurkisten, voor zover die nog bestonden, werden toen alleen nog maar gerepareerd. Deze wordt daar opnieuw opgebouwd. De onderdelen worden geklonken volgens het historische model.
