Het zou veel moeite en geld kosten om het in werkende staat te behouden als inloopdrainage, maar het nut ervan voor museale doeleinden zou uiterst beperkt zijn. Ook hier werd in nauw overleg met de lagere monumentenzorg van de stad Darmstadt een oplossing uitgewerkt. Dit is bedoeld om het kanaal te documenteren. Het zal worden gebruikt om aan- en afvoerleidingen te leggen en vervolgens weer worden opgevuld.
