Daarom moest het worden versterkt, net als de fundamenten. In tegenstelling tot de funderingen bestaat de muur echter geheel uit klinkermetselwerk. De losse rijen werden verwijderd. Daarna werd de wapening gelegd en de bekisting voorbereid.
