He was not interested in listing wagon numbers and describing all the locomotive types in use. Rather, his explanations focused on the general conditions that characterised this railway over the years of its existence: vehicle shortages, a lack of capital and ultimately an outdated fleet of vehicles meant that, despite high passenger numbers, it was not possible to prevent a (politically desired) closure in 1957.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"p1\">Gunter Mackinger also described a scenario of how the Salzkammergut local railway could be a flourishing or at least well-positioned means of public transport on a narrow gauge track for this tourist region under today&#8217;s conditions: Electrified and with a timetable based on the Swiss model. The vehicles for this were already slumbering in the drawer of the Graz wagon factory. <span style=\"letter-spacing: 0.2px;\">The fact that this operation would have nothing in common with the nostalgic flair of the 1950s was vividly conveyed by him.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-af8e482 elementor-widget-divider--view-line elementor-widget elementor-widget-divider\" data-id=\"af8e482\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"divider.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-divider\">\n\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-divider-separator\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-cd93269 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"cd93269\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/bahnwelt.de\/veranstaltung\/vortragsabend-im-eisenbahnmuseum-10\/\">next lecture evening<\/a> will take place on 02 October 2024 at 8 pm. Andreas Mampel will give a picture presentation about <strong>the Swiss L\u00f6tschberg railway<\/strong>. After a brief historical review, the focus is on the current vehicles as well as the current development and upcoming projects. Finally, the existing museum vehicles of this railway will be shown.
