\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tOn the Easter weekend, the railway museum was open in good weather with an extended programme. In addition to the regular guided tours through the vehicle collection and the open permanent exhibitions, the model railway of Darmstadt’s historic main station from 1846 was demonstrated live. In the training signal box, interested visitors were able to familiarise themselves with the operational processes and technical connections in the railway system.\u00a0The announced Easter bunny unfortunately had to call in sick at short notice and was therefore unable to perform his service for the young visitors.<\/span>\r\n\r\nAs a special highlight, the historic wheel lathe was demonstrated as part of the museum tours. The driving axle of a steam locomotive was machined on it these days to remove unevenness from the running surface of the wheels. With this varied overall programme, the staff of the railway museum were once again able to show how versatile and interesting railway technology is.\r\n\r\nMany thanks to all our guests for visiting us at Easter!\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
