On 25.04.2023, employees of the nationwide business unit “Real Estate” of DB Netz AG met for their annual meeting at the Maritim Hotel in Darmstadt.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>On the second day, the visit of the Railway Museum Darmstadt-Kranichstein was on the agenda. A deliberate accent to stimulate in a stylish railroad environment to the casual exchange among themselves. <\/span><\/p>\n

The participants were picked up at 12:09 p.m. by a historic special train consisting of the electric locomotive 141 228-7, three “Donnerb\u00fcchsen” and the associated baggage car from the conference venue at Darmstadt main station and also brought back in the evening. After arrival in Kranichstein, the first chairman of the Museumsbahn e. V., Werner Pielhauer, welcomed the guests. The physical well-being with a small snack, coffee and cake was provided by a member of the association as a trained cook.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Afterwards, the guests were shown the railroad museum by means of five presentation stations. The training signal box, the operation of a steam boiler, the historic forge, the driver’s cab of a steam locomotive and combined road\/rail transport were demonstrated.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a highlight of the day, the participants then boarded the special train again for a short excursion to the former hump of the marshalling yard. There they were informed about the past as a freight train formation facility and the future as a stabling and cleaning facility for ICE trains, taking into account the historical heritage of the site.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Numerous expressions of the participants already during and at the end of the approximately six-hour event proved that the day can be called a full success both regarding the expiration, the offered program as well as the atmosphere. This praise is the reward for the 32 volunteers who worked hard to organize, prepare and carry out the event.<\/span><\/p>\n
