Die Bahnwelt Darmstadt-Kranichstein veranstaltet an Christi Himmelfahrt und dem darauffolgenden Wochenende, 14., 16.05. und 17.05.2026, die traditionellen Bahnwelttage. Als gr\u00f6\u00dfte Veranstaltung des Jahres erwartet die Besucher ein umfangreiches Programm rund um die Eisenbahn mit Pendelfahrten, Vorf\u00fchrungen, Ausstellungen und weiteren Attraktionen.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A major highlight this year is the presence of three guest trains and locomotives from the Treysa Railway Enthusiasts, the Kuckucksb\u00e4hnle and the Hanau Museum Railway, which will add to the variety of rolling stock on each day of the event. On 14 May <\/strong>, a special train from the local DGEG Railway Museum<\/strong><\/a> with steam locomotive 52 7409<\/strong> will take you from Neustadt\/Weinstra\u00dfe to the Railway World Days. The train will arrive at 12 noon and remain on site until late afternoon. On 16 May<\/strong>, the Treysa Railway Enthusiasts<\/strong> will arrive with their special train<\/a> hauled by steam locomotive 35 1097. In addition, two guest locomotives from our colleagues at the Hanau Museum Railway \u2013 V60 447 and TKt 48 \u2013 will be visiting the Railway World Days.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Take the train to the festival! Enjoy a relaxed journey from Darmstadt main station to the railway museum without having to worry about parking on the historic shuttle train with alternating locomotives and passenger carriages from the 1930s. Of course, it is also possible to take a trip from the railway museum to the main station and back.<\/p>\n

The museum grounds feature steam, diesel and electric locomotives, as well as small rolling stock<\/strong>, and visitors also have the opportunity to ride along in the driver\u2019s cab<\/strong>. Various vehicles are demonstrated around the turntable, including last year\u2019s new additions, the T 1005 steam locomotive and the 212 062 diesel locomotive.<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The construction of the new ICE stabling facility<\/strong> in the neighbourhood of the museum site will accompany the museum’s special events over the next two years. The heavy load group<\/strong> shows how freight wagons are transferred from rail to road transporters using the “Culemeyer” system. The mechanical training signal box<\/strong> has undergone a major overhaul and extension and now shows additional possibilities for transferring original signal box technology and its functions to a model railway in a way that is easy to understand and conveys the train control processes. The model replica of Darmstadt’s former main railway station from 1846<\/strong> is shown in operation on a large layout and forging work<\/strong> is demonstrated in the historic roundhouse. The permanent way collection<\/strong> shows the technical development of the railway system and in the extensive uniform exhibition<\/strong>, the work clothing and equipment of railway workers from the imperial era to the end of the German Federal Railway can be extensively traced.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The tram museum<\/strong> of the HEAG Historical Vehicles Working Group at Marburger Stra\u00dfe 16 is also open. Since 2006, the model railway enthusiasts from Darmstadt\u2019s twin town of Alkmaar<\/strong> in the Netherlands have been travelling to the Kranichstein Railway Days at their own expense with a model railway. The\u00a0Model Spoorclub Alkmaar<\/strong><\/a> has several model railways based on the history of the steam tram.<\/p>\n

This time, they are displaying their impressive model railway layout of an interurban tram, modelled on Dutch designs, in a railway carriage.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The “Klein – Kranichsteiner – Kreisbahn<\/strong> ” also offers children the opportunity to ride on its carriages behind real steam and electric locomotives. It is operated on a 12.5 cm gauge by the museum’s young railwaymen.
