SUMMARY:Lecture evening: “From the Nassau state railway to the ICE – 163 years of the railway in Limburg”
DESCRIPTION:On the first Wednesday of every month, a lecture evening on a railway-related topic takes place in the railway museum’s waiting room from 8 pm.\nAdmission is free. Catering is also provided.\nTopic on 3 September 2025: “From the Nassau state railway to the ICE – 163 years of railways in Limburg” by Bernhard Hager\nIt is not only railway enthusiasts who associate Limburg with the Lahn Valley Railway, which is equally spectacular in terms of landscape and technology. It was an important part of the state railway of the Duchy of Nassau early on, while the Hessian Ludwig Railway campaigned in vain for a long-distance line from Cologne to Frankfurt. It was not until the new railway line was built in 2002 that this route planning became a reality. Bernhard Hager is dedicated not only to the Limburg railway junction but also to the repair works responsible for battery-powered railcars.\n\nOther topics in the 2025 lecture series:\n\n08 January 2025: “Annual review of the railway world 2024” by the board of the Museumsbahn e. V.\n05 February 2025: “Experiences of a dispatcher” by Marco Frühwein and Matthias Mampel\n05 March 2025: “The Hessian Ludwig Railway – the origin of southern Hesse’s railway lines” by Michael Sailer\n02 April 2025: “On a narrow track through Saxony – railway excursions after reunification” by Peter Wöllert\n07 May 2025: “The story of the world’s most-built steam locomotive” by Marc Clement\n04 June 2025: “Museum railways in the south” by Andreas Mampel\n\n
